As the marketplace for artistic creation continues to shift and evolve, artists of all disciplines will need a broad set of skills in order to succeed. To be talented is no longer enough. Artists need to understand and unlock the creative process, be able to navigate a changing arts economy, and manage their business. They need to be artist entrepreneurs.
Based on his book, The Artist Entrepreneur: Finding Success in a New Arts Economy, with Dr. Ron McCurdy and Dr. Rick Goodstein, Eric Lapin crafts a session that explores practical skills artists needed for success in the arts economy. This class will discuss the creative process, idea generation, entrepreneurship, managing your business, grant writing, and fundraising.
Every aspect of the workshop will be practical, personalized, and hands-on. This way, participants leave the session with actual outlines, plans, and strategies that they can put into action immediately. These topics can be presented more generally to cover more subjects or more specifically to go into more depth based on the needs and interests of the participants.
$100, $85 for members (discounted price will display for members upon login)
Students will meet in the third floor Heinen Design Lab.
